Ally faces off with Larry – in court and out. Meanwhile, Richard decides to heat things up with Ling, and John bonds with Kimmy.

You know how when you haven’t successfully been with someone in a while you think maybe you’ve forgotten how? Ally has a bad case of nerves – so bad, that she’s watching an instructional video on “How To Kiss.” Her third date with Larry is coming up, and she’s sure she’s going to ruin it. Despite the anxiety, Ally glides into the office the next day. (Insert needle rip here.)

Who should Ally bump into but Ms. “I’m a Prude and Proud of It” – Kimmy. In an odd twist, Kimmy needs to hire Ally as a last-minute replacement lawyer. Kimmy’s suing her law firm because she feels they denied her partnership due to her high moral standards. Hmph! Ally tries to get out of it, but Richard sees dollar signs. He assigns the case to Cage with Ally as co-chair. Ally soon discovers that Larry is opposing counsel!

Later, in the Unisex, Ally consults Ling on the art of kissing – since Ally knows firsthand that Ling excels at it. Ling grabs Cage and demonstrates her technique – which Richard walks in on! He calls Cage a “Judith” (uh, we think he meant “Judas”) and goes so far as to shove him.

After a terse meeting between Kimmy and her old boss, Cage tells her that her alienating personality won’t sit well with the jury. She accepts the criticism, maybe because she and Cage share a mutual itch to twitch when nervous. Meanwhile, Ally and Larry are wrapping up their third date. Ally surreptitiously guzzles water at every chance to avoid the dreaded “dry mouth kiss.” Finally, Larry leans in, touches her face, her hair and smooches her…on the forehead?!

In the Unisex, Richard confesses to Nelle that he’s convinced he doesn’t excite women anymore. Nelle suggests that Richard adopt a persona – like the Biscuit’s Barry White thing. He gives it a shot…maybe “Love Machine.” No, that’s not right. “Hot Stuff”? Yeah, baby! As is Unisex law, Ling walks in on his gyrating. He tells her he can’t remember the last knee pit or finger suck they shared. Where’s the heat? Ling warns him that he may not be able to handle it, but she’ll turn it up!

In court, Larry comes down hard on Kimmy, accusing her of imposing her values on others. At Christmas, she took down the mistletoe because “the kissing gets a little out of control with the eggnog flowing.” She protested the play The Vagina Monologues, because of “that word.” Not to mention her bumper sticker – “Virgins Rule.” Ally can’t help but confront Larry about attacking her client. Of course, what she’s really upset about is the forehead kiss! Eventually, she tells Larry this and he says he didn’t want to rush things. Ally’s instinct is to ditch him and his reaction is to tell her that she’s just scared because she’s forgotten how to love and be loved. Smooth move, Larry.

In the end, Larry’s closing argument sums things up. He says that sometimes people get to used to things not working out that they become more comfortable with failure than success. Larry wins the case, but Kimmy asks John out to dinner regardless. Plus, Ally and Larry decide to help each other be brave in the face of a bold, new frontier: love.
