"A leader leads. A follower follows." Fishism

John and Richard head to sunny L.A. for a little R&R, but wind up doing business as usual. Special Guests: Mo Collins (MADtv) and Bernadette Peters

It's a snowy Boston day when Richard sulks into John's office lamenting his personal life. He and Ling have agreed to break things off for awhile. Richard blames it on Ling's attraction to Jackson. That, coupled with John's recent breakup, makes Richard wonder how their lives got so unsexy so fast? Luckily, he has the perfect remedy: He has two tickets to Los Angeles for a two-day vacation.

In the staff meeting, Richard announces that during his and John's absence, Ally will be in charge. This does not sit well with Ling and Nelle, but before they can say anything Richard and John are off to the airport.

Per usual, Richard makes a spectacle of himself. After berating the coach passengers, barking drink orders at the stewardess (Mo Collins) and releasing an oxygen mask, Richard is banned by the captain from speaking for the duration of the flight. While John consults Ally about the constitutionality of this via the airphone, Richard has trouble keeping tight-lipped. Fed up with a portly passenger who cannot contain his, er, flatulence, Richard releases his oxygen mask in protest. And that's why Richard is led off in handcuffs once the plane lands in Los Angeles.

An L.A. judge dismisses the charges, thanks to John's gift with words. The guys look forward to kicking back at their posh hotel and putting courtrooms and law on hold for a few days. No such luck. No sooner do they plop down in their lounge chairs then they are tempted by babes with legal woes. Richard befriends a young beauty, Jane, who agrees to go back to his room and "do the Hustle." (That's not a euphemism, Richard wanted to dance.) Two steps and one kick later, police bust in and arrest Richard for solicitation! Meanwhile, back at the pool, John's become a sounding board for a beautiful woman (Bernadette Peters) going through an ugly divorce. Her affair broke a prenup agreement, even though her husband sent the lothario to seduce her. John agrees to help Cassandra renegotiate…but before he can start, he must go bail out Richard again.

Jane tells John that she's not a prostitute, only an escort. Actually she's an actress whose shady agent considers escorting an acting gig. Jane's contractually bound to the agent, but doesn't think he's a bad guy. John agrees to help Jane get out of her contract, if she tells police that Richard wasn't soliciting anything but bad disco moves. Once again, the charges against Richard are dismissed.

Finally, the guys are able to get in some rollerblading with Jane and Cassandra in tow. That evening, Cassandra persuades John to a moonlit dance on his hotel room balcony. Meanwhile, Richard and Jane go clubbing, giving Richard the chance to introduce the Hustle to a whole new generation!

While meeting with Cassandra's lawyer, John gets her settlement upped from $100,000 to $4.2 million! Across town, Richard convinces Jane's agent to release her from her contract, while retaining three percent of her future earnings. After tender goodbyes from their new L.A. clients, John and Richard head back to chilly Boston. Some vacation!
