“Women should be obscene and not heard.” Fishism

Ally must choose between two dateable men. Mark comes to terms with his girlfriend’s past and rethinks their future together. Louie Anderson and Jami Gertz guest star.

Ally, still in the restaurant with Michael and Jonathan, pulls out a remote, “rewinds” the action to when she first realized they were father and son. She handles the situation much better the second time. If only real life was rewindable! Both men wind up leaving the table in shock and Ally heads to the restroom. On the way, she bumps into an old classmate from law school, Kimmy Bishop (Jami Gertz).

Kimmy, who is there with her Women of Virtue Bar Chapter, remarks that Ally was voted biggest prude two years in a row. Ally responds with a bawdy little tale about Kimmy “munching” one of Ally’s boyfriends in public – much to the horror of Kimmy and her tight-lipped gal pals. Who knew talons would be in this fall? Vicious!

The next night, at Ally’s now-weekly slumber party, Nelle and Elaine advise her to date both father and son. After all, Nelle argues, it wasn’t that long ago when they were lamenting the lack of dateable men. Now that Ally’s found two, she should hang on to them! A knock on the door reveals bachelor number one, Jonathan. Unaware of the room full of pajama-clad women within earshot, he confesses his lusty feelings for Ally. He wants to know if Ally is sexually attracted to his dad, or just thinks he’s a nice guy. Ally manages to stall on giving him an answer.

Ally has another run-in with Kimmy, this time on the streets of Boston. Kimmy is upset that Ally humiliated her in front of her pearl-clutching pals. She crosses the line, however, when she curses Ally with “may you never find a man.” Ally imagines clocking Kimmy with a right hook. Somehow a nun gets involved and more insults get hurled, but the bottom line is that Kimmy is suing Ally for defamation.

Fish is decidedly peeved to hear Ally is embroiled in another lawsuit. Before they can discuss it, Nelle interrupts to say that she finds Mark’s she-male totally disgusting and that their relationship could lessen the credibility of the firm. Um, thanks Nelle. It’s so nice of you to contribute without anyone having to ask. Later, Michael shows up and tells Ally that she must choose him or his son. She insists on dating them both a little longer. She vows to abstain from exchanging bodily fluids, including saliva, until she’s narrowed the field. What fun is that?

In the meantime, Ally hires Larry to defend her against Kimmy and is impressed with his clever handling of the deposition. He winds up getting Kimmy to settle for an apology and lawyer’s fees. As if her father-son team wasn’t enough, Ally’s starting to think Larry is pretty hot, until Renee tells her he’s married. Later, when Ally sees Larry and Nelle at the bar together, her jealousy takes over and she confronts him. Turns out he’s divorced. Oops. Later, Larry tells Ally that if she dumps the father and son, he’ll say farewell to Nelle so that they can go out. Ally agrees.

Elsewhere, after a humiliating session with an oddball therapist (Louie Anderson), Mark and Cindy decide to end things. On her way out of Mark’s office, Cindy “thanks” Richard for all his support by giving him a tonsil-tickling kiss. Bygones!
